How to register for the Parent Portal

With the current virtual setting we find ourselves in we have been looking into how we deliver meetings virtually and there will be more news on this in the coming weeks, but the Parent Portal allows leaders to set badge work that can be completed at home, this is called the “Badges at Home” feature on the Parent Portal.

The Parent Portal provides access to the Scout Groups Online Scout Manager (OSM) database the group utilises for its administration tasks and record keeping, you can find more details on the groups use of OSM here.

The Parent Portal allows you to perform the following:

  • Update and check you child details held are correct.
  • See the progress on your child’s badge work.
  • Upload evidence for badges set to be completed at home.
  • Ask questions regarding a badge set to be completed at home.
  • See the requirements for each badge and any additional information or guidance set by the leaders.

We have provided links to the requirements of the badges for each section, under the Members Info menu above, these links open a new tab to the main Scout website, the Scout website also provides activity ideas for completing the badge.

I’ve created a quick couple of minutes video on how to sign up for the portal and the basics of using the portal, the video is below or click here for all the videos.

The video below gives you an overview of how to sign up for the parent portal and how to utilise the system.

Will update these when we come across common issues people have faced utilising the system.

Allows your child to keep being involved in Scouting while we can’t meet in person, still work towards their badges, which we will regularly post to your home address on file once earned.

It’s really important for the child’s safety we hold the correct information for child and the parent portal allows you check and update these details. These details being update are important for the welfare of your child so leaders can send notifications or contact you in case of an emergency during meetings or events for example.

Please provide some details of where you are stuck in an email to your section leaders e.g. Beavers ([email protected]) Cubs ([email protected]) or Scouts ([email protected]). Provide details on the best time and number to give you a call if required and someone will be in contact asap.

If you would like to complete a badge not currently activated for Badges at Home then please discuss this with your leaders via email [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], who can release the badge to be completed from home.

You will receive an invite for each child within the group, when you click on the invite link, if you already have an existing account you logon with this account and you will see multiple children in the list on the left hand side.

Even if you have already signed up for an account for a previous child, you still need to follow the link sent and login to register each child to your existing account.

Use the forgotten password option if you can’t remember the password for the account registered to your email address.
